Concordia University Hosts the Defiant Imagination Series

MONTREAL/January 21, 2008—

Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts is proud to host its 4th annual Defiant Imagination Series. This series celebrates some of the leading thinkers in every domain of the arts who insist that the role of the imagination in keeping global culture alive and ensuring its future is a vital one.

The three lectures in the series will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday January 23rd, Thursday February 7th and Wednesday February 27th. Dutch artist and kinetic sculptor, Theo Jansen, is the first speaker of the series. Referred to as “a modern-day Da Vinci”, Jansen creates large-scale kinetic sculptures that are a fusion of art and engineering.

All of the lectures are free, and open to the public. They will take place at Concordia’s D.B. Clarke Theatre in the Henry F. Hall Building (1455 De Maisonneuve Blvd. West).
