MONTREAL/November 13, 2007—
The Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) will host its 6th Biennial Research & Technology Fair on Thursday, November 15, 2007. This event will be held in the Atrium of the J.W. McConnell Building of Concordia University (1400 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West).
The fair, taking place from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. will highlight innovative CSLP research and development projects in areas such as the development of second and third language skills, effective uses of technology in K-11 and postsecondary classrooms and more. In addition, students and teachers from partner elementary schools will be presenting their technology-based classroom projects using the CSLP’s early literacy and electronic portfolio software.
For almost two decades, the CSLP has engaged in research aimed at developing strategies and tools to facilitate students’ acquisition of general competencies that foster second language, literacy, numeracy and inquiry skills for effective use in educational and workplace settings. Research at the CSLP has not only affected elementary and secondary schools, and higher learning institutions in Quebec, but also in Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, British Columbia, Portugal, and soon, Australia.
