Michael Di Grappa Assumes Role of Acting President at Concordia University

MONTREAL/November 1, 2007—

As of today, November 1, 2007, Michael Di Grappa assumes the role of Acting President of Concordia University. This comes following the September announcement that Dr. Claude Lajeunesse would step down from the position of President after 27 months at the university. A search committee is in place to find a new President. Meanwhile, Di Grappa will also continue his present role as Vice- President Services.

A 1984 graduate of Concordia's School of Community and Public Affairs, Di Grappa went on to complete his Master's of Public Policy and Administration at New York's Columbia University. He was president of the Concordia University Alumni Association from 1996 to 1998 and was honoured with the Distinguished Service Award through Concordia's Alumni Recognition Awards program.

Di Grappa began his Concordia career in 1986 as Assistant in the Office of the Rector. He has been Vice-President, Services, since March 2000, where he led the university's ambitious $400 million construction project and brought together ten different strategic units into an effective business operation.
