MONTREAL/June 14, 2007—
From June 15-17, 2007 Concordia University will take part in Montreal’s 1st Science Festival at the Quays of the Old Port of Montreal. The Eureka! Festival is an event for the general public, intended to celebrate the wealth and diversity of science-related activities in the city. Concordia will be there with exhibits from the Faculty of Arts and Science and tours to the Faculty of Fine Arts.
At the Concordia kiosk at the Science Tent in the “West Central Section” on the Quays, people can discover what figure skaters and spacecraft have in common, or what links origami, science, nature, medicine and space satellites. You can also learn how classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism impact our everyday lives through exciting exhibits that will take you into the world of “Simplicity in Complexity” and provide you with a “hands-on” experience and a unique opportunity to interact with knowledgeable researchers.
On June 16th, there will be two, free bilingual tours to Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts to explore interactive pieces of art that put visitors at the centre of creation, from making robots dance and playing video games on a 30-foot screen to traveling through a portal into a fabulous cosmos.
The tours will depart by bus from the Quays of the Old Port at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on June 16th only. To sign up and for tour instructions, visitors must go to the Quays and make a reservation at the Festival information booth, across from the Montreal Science Centre at the foot of St. Laurent Blvd.
