Concordia University President test, Claude Lajeunesse, launched the publication Engaged in Montreal’s Development at Montreal City Hall this morning. The document was released in the presence of the Mayor of Montreal, Gerald Tremblay, and presents an overview of Concordia’s involvement in the fifteen industrial clusters identified as most important to Montreal’s development.

Generally speaking, clusters are described as geographic concentrations of interconnected companies and institutions (such as universities, standards-setting agencies, think tanks, vocational training providers, and trade associations) in a particular field. By working together to promote their cluster, players can improve their individual position in these highly competitive areas.

The fifteen clusters presented in Engaged in Montreal’s Development are: aerospace, life sciences, information and computer technology, textiles and clothing industries, culture, tourism, services industries, nanotechnology, advanced materials, environmental technology, energy, bio-food, petrochemicals and plastics, metallurgy, and paper and wood products.
