Concordia University's Contemporary Dance Department Celebrates its 25th Anniversary

MONTREAL/February 26, 2007—

Concordia's Department of Contemporary Dance will celebrate its 25th anniversary on March 1, 2007, with a series of free, public performances. Contemporary dance students will present their original works in public spaces of the Engineering Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (1515 St. Catherine W.) starting at 6:00 p.m.

Concordia's Contemporary Dance department was created in 1979 with the mission to train ìauthors of danceî. As such, students perform and produce their own work, as compared to performing the work of their professors. It is this approach that makes Concordia's Contemporary Dance department unique in Canada, and has attracted students from the rest of Canada, Europe, the United States, Australia and Asia.
