Concordia University's Institute in Management and Community Development presents its summer program: Actions of Hope and Resistance

MONTREAL/June 9, 2006—

Concordia University's Institute of Management and Community Development will present its 14th annual summer program, Actions of Hope and Resistance, at the Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. West.)

Over the six days, specialists from around the world will host seminars and present workshops in both English and French offering active citizens concrete knowledge that can lead to actions of hope and resistance. Some of the topics include technology, media and activism; fundraising fundamentals; overcoming racism; how to mobilize the community and much more.

On Sunday, June 11th at 7 p.m., renowned economist, political scientist and author Riccardo Petrella will present the opening keynote speech, a free event open to the public, at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall on Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. West.) Mr. Petrella asks how, when we are faced with huge challenges and obstacles, can we envision bringing about change? How can we stir up hope instead of settling for a culture of defeatism and inertia?
