- As part of the Peace and Conflict Academic Lecture Series, the Centre for the Arts in Human Development of Concordia University will present a public lecture by Jean Vanier, titled "Finding Peace: A Perspective by Jean Vanier".

It will take place on February 1st, at 7 p.m. at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall on the Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. West).

Dr. Vanier, who holds a PhD in Philosophy, is an internationally known and respected author, lecturer and founder of the L'Arche communities which exist in over 40 countries around the world. The L'Arche movement is dedicated to community and shared living with persons with developmental or related disabilities. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion.

Jean Vanier is a gifted and inspiring speaker who will address the relationship of the individual and the community to finding peace on a personal and international level. His talk will also address the issue of overcoming social alienation in disadvantaged populations, drawing on his personal and professional experience in achieving change and resolution.

A distinguished academic panel includes professors from three areas within the University: Stephen Snow, Creative Arts Therapies; Ellen Jacobs, Education; and Nigel Rapport, Sociology and Anthropology. Dr. Katherine Moxness, from the West Montreal Readaptation Centre, will provide reactions to the discussion. A question and answer period with Jean Vanier and the panel will conclude the evening.
