Concordia and McGill unveil new buildings designed by creators for creators
ñ Catherine Wild, Dean of Concordia's Faculty of Fine Arts and Don McLean, Dean of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University will host a special symposium Creating Space for Art, an exciting addition to arts education and research in Canada. It will take place October 14-15 at both universities (Concordia ñ 1515 St. Catherine St. West; McGill ñ 555 Sherbrooke St. West).
The two-day symposium is an addition to the annual CAFAD (Canadian Association of Fine Arts Deans) gathering and will explore the theme of Creating Space for Art from several perspectives: physical space (two new architectural projects at Concordia and McGill), academic space (art in the academy), multicultural space (the global challenge), virtual space (the IT reality), industrial space (the business of art and music), and personal space (individuality, intimacy, modularity, and changing modes of delivery).
The symposium will bring together fine arts administrators and colleagues from across Canada, along with keynote speakers from the international artistic and architectural communities, to engage in provocative discussion. Presenters include:
