MONTREAL/June 17, 2005—
ECAC Speaker Series Inaugural Event
On Wednesday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m., the Concordia Engineering & Computer Science Alumni Chapter (ECAC) will present the inaugural event in its speaker series Making Canada's Top 40 Under 40. The conference will take place in the J.A. DeSève Cinema, in the J.W. McConnell Building (1400 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.).
Two graduates will share how the skills they obtained at university contributed to their professional success, namely David Wilkins and Tommy Petrogiannis, successful entrepreneurs who have made Canada's prestigious Top 40 Under 40 list.
David Wilkins, BEng 88, president and CEO of VertigoXMedia Inc., was named this year as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 by Report on Business magazine. While his entrepreneurial career started at an early age, the skills he developed at Concordia helped him create a media enterprise that has forever altered the broadcasting world. VertigoXMedia creates three-dimensional graphics, which are now de rigueur on live television broadcasts around the world. Clients include CNN, ESPN, NBC and Fox News.
Tommy Petrogiannis, BEng 88, is the president and co-founder of Silanis Technology Inc., a company that produces e-commerce and messaging software that allows multiple companies to communicate and make transactions from two or more remote locations. His company is a leading authority on electronic approvals and has built partnerships with technology giants such as Microsoft and Adobe Systems. Petrogiannis was recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 for the year 2000, by Report on Business magazine.
