MONTREAL/May 27, 2005—
Ashee Sarin, who will graduate next month in the John Molson School of Business MBA program, has won the Bourse Émerite Desjardins de l'Association des MBA du Quèbec. She is the second JMSB student to win the competition. She was presented with her award and $10,000 accompanying bursary at a luncheon yesterday at the Omni Hotel in downtown Montreal.
The award was developed by the Association des MBA du Quebec (AMBAQ four years ago) to recognize the top graduating MBA student from the six major programs in Quebec: HEC Montrèal, Universitè Laval, McGill University, Universitè de Sherbrooke, UQAM and the John Molson School of Business.
The selection committee, made up of senior executives, looks at each school's representative in depth, covering areas such as academic performance, leadership, personality, extracurricular activities and social engagement, job experience, involvement within the Quebec business community and the quality of communication and capacity of synthesis and bilingualism.
Ashee Sarin had the highest GPA in her graduating class and has a long list of accomplishments, having received the Bessie Schulich Fellowship for entrepreneurship, being elected VP Career Placement in the John Molson MBA Society, working with her program's student orientation. She is also a member of the Jeune Chambre de Commerce of Montreal and the Association des Femmes en Finance du Quebec. She also volunteers for food and clothing drives for the Montreal Children's Hospital and for Nez Rouge during the holidays.
After recently returning from exchange in Essec, France, Ashee returned to her former employer, Deloitte Consulting in Montreal, as a Senior Management Consultant. Her director, Guy Barthell, Partner, Corporate Strategy, knows they company is fortunate to have her. "We are extremely proud of Ashee. She represents well the people that we aim to hire at Deloitte to serve our clientele - a clientele very much like the people that selected her for this award."
