On Friday March 4th, Concordia University students, and members of the Canadian Building and civil engineering students will hold the 21st annual Troitsky Bridge Building Competition. Engineers of tomorrow incorporate ingenuity, creativity and engineering skills to construct sturdy and aesthetically appealing bridges out of simple materials: popsicle sticks, dental floss, toothpicks and glue. At least one structure has withstood a maximum load capacity of over 3000 kg., when submitted to the Crusher. Each bridge has specific height and weight restrictions, which the teams must follow. Judging is based on weight, aesthetics and originality. This year 43 teams, with participants from Canada, and the United States will take part. The bridges will be assembled and displayed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the atrium of the J.W. McConnell Building (1400 de Maisonneuve West). They will face the Crusher at 3 pm in room H-110 of the Henry F. Hall Building (1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West)
