Friday, January 21, 2005 – 3:30 p.m.
J.A. DeSève Cinema – J.W. McConnell Building
As part of The Defiant Imagination series, Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, will present Miniature Painting and the Fine Art of Selfhood, by Concordia Research Fellow and Research Chair in Art History, Kristina Huneault.
She will explain how the creation and exchange of tiny and precious portraits of First Nations sitters can shed new light on the way art helped to mediate the charged encounter between colonizer and colonized in the 19th century.
