FOUR DISTINGUISHED INDIVIDUALS TO RECEIVE HONORARY DEGREES - Michael Gordon Gibbons, Marc Garneau, Daniel Langlois, Bruce Mallen

1,662 Students Graduate from Concordia University this Fall

Concordia University is pleased to announce the upcoming fall convocation ceremonies, which will take place in two parts in Salle Wilfrid Pelletier of Place des Arts on Thursday, December 2. More than 1,600 graduates will be receiving their degrees, joined by four distinguished honorary doctorate recipients.

The morning convocation ceremony, for graduates of the Faculty of Arts and Science, will take place at 9:30 a.m. and feature addresses by honorary doctorate recipients in related fields. The Arts and Science honorand this year is Dr. Michael Gordon Gibbons, eminent professor, and former Secretary General of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

In the afternoon of the same day, students will be receiving their diplomas in a joint ceremony at 3 p.m. for the Faculty of Fine Arts, the John Molson School of Business, and the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. Honorary doctorates will be awarded to Dr. Marc Garneau, Daniel Langlois and Dr. Bruce Mallen.

Dr. Marc Garneau, the first Canadian in Space, will receive an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. An engineer and astronaut, Dr. Garneau serves as President of the Canadian Space Agency and as Chancellor of Carleton University. Daniel Langlois, President and Founder of Ex-Centris, the Daniel Langlois Foundation, DigiScreen, and Media Principia Inc., and founder of Softimage Inc., will receive an honorary doctorate from the John Molson School of Business. Dr. Bruce Mallen, Dean of the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University, and professor of marketing, economics and finance and real estate, will as well be receiving an honorary doctorate from the JMSB.
