MONTREAL/October 21, 2004 ñ The International Centre for Aviation Management Education and Research (ICAMER) at John Molson School of Business (JMSB), Concordia University, and Airports Council International (ACI) will partner to develop and deliver an Airport Executive Leadership Program (AELP).
Targeted at future CEOs, Deputy CEOs, or Vice-Presidents of airport operating organizations, the program aims to develop airport-industry leaders and to advance the professionalism of airport management practices.
Under this partnership, JMSB plans to offer, on behalf of ACI, a minimum of two courses per year starting in 2005. Each two-month course will employ a combination of face-to-face and web-based sessions using state-of-the-art communications technology developed by JMSB. Participating airport professionals will undertake the program while remaining employed on a full-time basis.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, one of ACIës objectives is to contribute to increased cooperation, mutual assistance, information exchange, and learning opportunities for its member airports. ACI comprises
554 airports and airport authorities operating over 1,500 airports in169 countries and territories, in addition to 700 associates, which serve the global airport industry.
By establishing industry partnerships, developing new, industry-specific pedagogical materials and promoting academic exchange through associations, academic journals and conferences, ICAMER is instrumental in bringing the aviation industry closer to the educational centres that train their
management.
John Molson School of Business began offering an Aviation MBA program in 1992. The curriculum integrates aviation management training relevant to a broad range of air transport organizations such as airports, air navigation services providers, airlines, civil aviation authorities, as well as industry manufacturers and suppliers. The Aviation MBA program offers two
formats: full time residence in Montreal or distance learning. . JMSB will also award a graduate diploma and a graduate certificate in aviation management as of September 2005.
