MONTREAL/June 7, 2004—
MONTREAL/JUNE 10, 2004 ñ Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson will be one of nine distinguished individuals who will receive honorary degrees at Concordia University's spring convocation ceremonies to be held on June 10 and 11.
The recipients are Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson; the late Claude Ryan, former leader of the Quebec Liberal Party; Alistair MacLeod, one of Canada's finest authors; Concordia's first Rector and Vice-Chancellor John O'Brien; Lui Che Woo, an entrepreneur and philanthropist based in Hong Kong; Henri-Paul Rousseau, president and chief executive officer of the Caisse de depÙt et placement; AndrÈ Chagnon founder of the cable company Le Groupe Videotron; Maryvonne Kendergi, best known as host of a Radio-Canada program, Les musialogues; and the late Guido Molinari, one of Canada's foremost artists.
Normand HÈbert, founder of Quebec's largest automobile sales company, the Groupe Park Avenue, was to be awarded an honorary degree during the convocation ceremony for the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. Due to circumstances outside his control, he cannot attend and will receive the degree at a subsequent ceremony.
This spring, 3,789 graduates will join Concordia's alumni ranks. Some will receive degrees, diplomas or certificates from Concordia's four Faculties and the School of graduate Studies. Five ceremonies will be held at the Place des Arts (175 Ste. Catherine West). The events will take place as follows:
