MONTREAL/December 9, 2003—
As of today, in the atrium of the J. W. McConnell Building (1400 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West), what looks like a 1950's juke box designed by someone from the 1990's is actually CBC's Livewire terminal for commentaries on a theme from members of the Concordia community and from the pubic at large. CBC is producing a six-hour miniseries to be aired in January of 2004 entitled HUMAN CARGO, focusing on the world of refugees. The Livewire terminal will allow image and voice access to anyone who wishes to comment on the topic or to relate personal experiences regarding the topic. Livewire terminals have been placed around the country before but this is the first time the project has been done in Quebec. CBC asked Concordia University to be the first among various institutions in Montreal to house the terminal. The terminal will be on site for a month. For further information you may access
