MONTREAL/September 25, 2003 ñ On Thursday, October 2, at 6 pm, as part of its Homecoming celebrations, the Concordia University Alumni Association (CUAA) will honour the outstanding contributions of alumni, faculty and students during an evening of music, memories and commemoration at the Delta Centre-Ville (777 University St.).
The BenoÓt Pelland Distinguished Service Award, awarded to an alumnus/a who has demonstrated a long-term commitment of outstanding service to the Association and University, will be presented to former CUAA president Nicole FaurÈ (BComm 84) and restaurateur Hazel Mah (BComm 78,
MBA 81).
The Honorary Life Membership Award will be presented to the Hon. Col. Pierre SÈvigny, P.C., O.C., war hero, former cabinet minister and successful businessperson, a non-graduate who has demonstrated a long-term commitment of outstanding service to the Association and University.
The Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching is awarded to a member of Concordia's teaching staff who shows superior knowledge, teaching ability and accessibility to students. This year's recipients are computer engineering professor Dr. Asim J. Al-Khalili, and Guido Molinari, a major Quebec artist for over 50 years.
Youri Cormier (BComm 03) and Seanna Miller (BComm 03) will receive the Outstanding Student Award for demonstrating leadership qualities while contributing to student life.
The MBA Alumni of the Year Award is awarded by the CUAA MBA Alumni Chapter to an MBA alumnus/a who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and dedication to both the community at large and to their alma mater. This year's recipient is businessman Edward A. Marra
(L BComm 74, MBA 76).
