Concordia University Hosts International Aviation Management Conference

MONTREAL/July 17, 2003 - The John Molson School of Business at Concordia University will host the 2nd annual Aviation Management Education and Research Conference (AMERC) from July 20-22, 2003. The conference, organized by the International Centre for Aviation Management Education and Research (ICAMER), and hosted by Concordia's International Aviation MBA program, will be held at the Delta Hotel (777 University St.) and will bring together academics and industry specialists from around the world to discuss issues in aviation management and research.

ìMost of the problems facing the aviation industry today can be traced back to management practices,î said Dr. Triant Flouris, director of the International AMBA program and conference organizer. ìIf the industry is to survive and thrive, it has to change the way it conducts business.î

With over 70 papers, two plenary sessions and four roundtables, this year's conference is truly multidisciplinary. All sectors of the aviation industry will be represented, including air navigation services, security, corporate fleet management and aviation law, to name just a few. Industry leaders such as ICAO, jetBlue, Nav-Canada, Air Canada, Delta AirLines and AÈroports de Montrèal are among the presenters. Sponsors include Bombardier, IBM, University of Nebraska, Ad Opt, AÈroports de Montrèal, Mechtronix, MITRE, Montreal International, Raytheon, Transport Canada and Embry Riddle University, a leader in aviation education.

Presentations and panel discussions will include topics such as airline industry trends, competition, mergers and alliances in the airline industry, air travel safety, accelerated commercialization of air navigation services, as well as issues in airline marketing and aviation management pedagogy.
