Montreal /May, 14, 2003 ñ The Sephardic Cultural Institute of Canada has organized, in conjunction with its first international conference Sephardic Identities and Modernity, three major cultural events to be held over a three-day period, from May 25 to 27, 2003.
On Sunday May 25th at 7:30 pm, the Institute will present a Multimedia Event on CD-ROM presented by Professors Yolande Cohen and Joseph LÈvy of l'UniversitÈ du Quèbec ‡ Montrèal (UQAM) on Sephardics from Morocco, followed by a choral recital by Judith and Tamar Cohen, and Sephardic stories by Oro Librowicz. The presentation will take place in room H-110 of the Henry F. Hall Building (1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.). Tickets are free.

On Monday May 26th at 8 pm, King David - The Musical, produced by Eyal Bitton will be presented at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall on Concordia's Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.). The classic story of the Biblical David comes to life in this new musical with script and score by Eyal Bitton. It is a tale of power, heroism, desire, tragedy, betrayal, deceit, and above all, love.
Having long been the black sheep of the family, David becomes determined to attain celebrity - to be loved by one and all. His path to stardom is assured when he defeats the giant Goliath. On May 27th, 2003 at 8 pm, the Institute will present A Musical Evening with Samy Elmaghribi, internationally acclaimed author- composer and interpreter of traditional music from Maghreb.
