MONTREAL/August 28, 2000—

Quebec city will play host to 1800 political scientists from every region of the world from August 1 to 5 for the XVIIIth World Congress of the International Political Science Association (IPSA). The World Congress will be preceded by a joint meeting of the Canadian and Quebec political science associations which are hosting the IPSA congress.

During the World Congress, there will be some 400 sessions in which research papers will present new data, analysis and ideas on current political issues. The theme of the Congress, “World Capitalism, Governance and Community: Toward a Corporate Millennium?”, focuses on the wide-ranging effects of globalization at the local, national and international level.

After many years of work, the Co-chairs of the local organizing committee, professors Guy Lachapelle (Concordia University) and John Trent (University of Ottawa), are proud to offer congress participants a programme that covers most of today’s hot issues in the world of Political Science (including politics and the Internet, health care reform, the environment, linguistic policies, inter-ethnic relations and many others).
