Investment guru Ned Goodman to receive honorary degree

MONTREAL/November 18, 1997—

A total of 1,113 students are eligible to receive degrees or diplomas when Concordia University holds its annual Fall Convocation on Friday, November 21, at Place des Arts, starting at 10 a.m.
A Doctorate of Laws, honoris causa, will be presented to Ned Goodman, one of Canada's most successful investment counsellors. Mr. Goodman has been a securities analyst and portfolio manager for more than 30 years.

Graduates from all four faculties and the School of Graduate Studies and Research will be represented: 707 will receive Bachelor's or Baccalaureate degrees, 406 will receive graduate degrees or diplomas, of whom 204 have earned Master's or Magisteriate degrees and 168 have earned diplomas. Thirty-four doctoral candidates will be presented with their PhDs.
The Governor-General's Gold Medal, given annually to the University's outstanding graduate student, will be awarded to Djaffar Ait-Ali-Yahia, who earned his PhD last year in Mechanical Engineering, in the field of computational fluid dynamics.
The valedictorian will be the Reverend Faye Wakeling, a PhD graduate in Religion. As the moving spirit behind St. Columba House, she has been an outstanding force for good in Pointe St. Charles.
