Concordia will open its doors to prospective students on Wednesday, February 13, for its annual Admissions Information Day. Formerly called the Application Information Fair, this event gives prospective students a chance to ask questions, clarify application details, submit supporting documents, to meet with staff and department representatives, and to obtain details about the admissions process before the March 1, 2013, deadline (for applicants educated in Canada).
Wondering about program selection or if you have the proper prerequisites? Confused between majors and minors, or how to apply online? Or, maybe you’d just like to put a face to a name of someone in your faculty. Admissions Information Day is your chance to obtain information about:
• Applying online
• Admission requirements
• Program selection
• Special program requirements
“We will have counsellors and admissions officers on site for each Faculty, along with representatives from the Institute for Co-operative Education, Financial Aid and Awards, Student Transition Centre and more,” says Eric Goldner, coordinator of Student Recruitment. “Students can confirm prerequisites and go over their choices for major or minor, or clarify any of the other application nuances.”

It’s like a mini Open House, says Goldner. “It’s getting down to crunch time with the undergraduate application deadline coming up on March 1. So Admissions Information Day is a day where we make ourselves open and available to prospective students, and we’re all ears. Rather than sending an email or making a call to ask last-minute questions, we will have representatives right there, on hand, that the student can speak to directly. We can even help them begin or complete their online applications on-site.”
New this year, says Goldner, is an outreach to high school students and their parents. “We wanted to reach out to the parents of Quebec high school students. We will be offering presentations to help them start thinking about university, and how decisions in high school can impact their choices in Cegep. And finally, we want to introduce them to the university itself, and to show them everything that Concordia has to offer.”
