Register for classes on the mobile website

Undergraduates can register, add or drop a class from smartphones and tablets
Handheld devices can be used to sign up for classes

The last day to add winter-term courses is Sunday, January 20. Thanks to the new mobile website, Concordia undergraduate students can use their handheld devices (smartphones and tablets) to register for classes, add or drop courses and view class schedules and grades.

History student Alexa Santella has already accessed the website from her smartphone to check her grades. “It’s faster than going onto my computer. It took me five seconds to check my grades and I can do it from wherever I am,” she said. “It’s perfect for me.”

For economics student Amandine Hong, the service is about convenience. “I’m very active and rarely home. My laptop is not always with me, but my phone is with me all the time,” she said.

The process is simple; visit m.myconcordia.ca and login using your netname and password.

“We’re always listening to students,” says Brad Tucker, associate vice-president, Student and Enrolment Services. “We know the ways you want to interact with us are changing, and this initiative is a way we responded to what we learn from you.”

Registering for classes and viewing grades and class schedules account for the three most used services by students on the MyConcordia portal.

“The current mobile registration website is only available to undergraduate students but we haven’t forgotten our graduate students,” says Tucker. “It’s just that graduate registration is more complicated because of program particularities, which include various thesis options.” Still, plans are underway to reach graduate students as well.

To meet the demands associated with mobile devices, the university expanded its Wi-Fi network last year and is planning another major wireless investment for the coming year. Students practically live on their portable devices and Concordia is keeping pace to ensure the most effective and efficient communications options are available.

The new mobile registration website is an initiative between Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS), Student and Enrolment Services and University Communications Services.

For support, students can phone the IITS Service Desk at 514-848-2424, ext. 7613, or email help@concordia.ca.
