Message from the president: ‘We are a community that celebrates diversity’
Concordia University is deeply troubled about a new executive order issued in the United States that prevents individuals from seven countries from entering the US for 90 days.
This executive order will have a major impact on the academic and research activities of many of our students, faculty and staff. This includes attendance at conferences and participation in field visits in the US.
We join with Universities Canada in voicing our concern about an executive order that goes against our fundamental values of diversity, inclusion and openness. We also support the call by the American Association of Universities to end this ban as quickly as possible.
At Concordia, we are a community that celebrates diversity. We are proud to welcome students from close to 150 countries, and we will continue to do so.
As an inclusive research-engaged university, we support the freedom of our students, faculty and staff to pursue their academic and research activities in an environment that fosters curiosity, collaboration and mutual respect.
