Looking to get a head start on your holiday shopping?

The third annual Loud and Clear Design Market is a unique opportunity to shop the wares of Quebec designers — both established and emerging.

The first Concordia-hosted iteration will take place November 21 through 23.

“The accent is on local design,” says Concordia alumna and market organizer Anne Thomas, BFA 87, who notes there will be an array of available items and over 40 creators in attendance.

“We’ll have furniture, jewellery, accessories and artisanal handcrafted items,” says Thomas. There will also be food items — such as gourmet coffee, savoury spices and Canadian maple syrup for purchase.

The market was born out of a desire to help support local designers and highlight the forefront of modern design in Quebec, explains Thomas.

“Montreal Design Month is in May. Outside of that there aren’t many opportunities for designers to showcase their work and interact with the community,” says the alumna.

Concordia Faculty of Fine Arts (FOFA) graduate Alexandra Cherot-Dalle, BFA 14, will display the jewellery she envisions and crafts by hand at the venue. FOFA houses the Department of Design and Computational Arts.

“I’m very pleased that Concordia is hosting this event, especially as a graduate,” says Thomas, herself a practicing designer and founder of Montreal-based Thomas Design and Communication.
