John Molson MBA 2nd Greenest in the World

Concordia University’s business school achieves coveted status in international sustainability rankings

Montreal, September 23, 2013Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB) MBA program has been ranked 2nd in the world, according to the Global Green MBA Survey published by Corporate Knights magazine.

“JMSB is committed to ensuring that today’s business decisions lead to a greener, more sustainable future,” says Steve Harvey, dean of the JMSB. “These survey results recognize that commitment and confirm that JMSB is increasingly being viewed as a global leader in the advancement of sustainable enterprise.”

This is the Corporate Knights inaugural Global Green MBA Survey, which evaluates how effectively MBA programs around the world incorporate sustainability into business education. Corporate Knights has been ranking Canadian MBA programs for the past nine years and JMSB has always ranked among the best nationally. Being ranked 2nd globally, reinforces the strength of the JMSB MBA program on a global scale.

“The Corporate Knights global green MBA rankings acknowledge Concordia’s efforts to promote positive business practices,” says Concordia President Alan Shepard. “JMSB is a vital link to forward-thinking business leaders who create innovative solutions that work.”

JMSB has integrated sustainability by hiring faculty who are interested in sustainable enterprise and by building curricula that focus on ethical and responsible business practices. The school houses two research centres dedicated to scholarship in sustainability, two responsible business-related internship programs and a certificate program for investment professionals interested in sustainable investing, a French version of which will be launched this fall.

The survey and analysis of the 2013 Global Green MBA Survey are detailed here and summarized in the Fall 2013 issue of Corporate Knights, distributed with the Globe and Mail on September 23.
