1. ‘THINK YOU I AM NO STRONGER THAN MY SEX ?’
Shakespeare in the Park – The Tragedy of Julius Caesar | Parks around Montreal | July 7 to August 4 at 7 p.m. (except July 9 at McGill University, which starts at 6:30 p.m.).
Repercussion Theatre presents an all-female production of Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. This political drama investigates the fine line between personal ambition and the general good, and — with a cast of only women — explores the relationship between gender and power.
We’ll be getting front row seats for this one … Et tu, Brute?

2. FILMS ALFRESCO
CINEMANIA summer screenings | Parks around Montreal | July 5 to August 23
Just when you were running out of things to do outside, there are film screenings in your local park!
Grab your favourite blankie, some popcorn and some friends and go watch movies under the stars. With English subtitles provided, you can view any of the films. What a great excuse to explore the beautiful green spaces that the city has to offer.

3. LAUGHTER THERAPY
Just for Laughs Festival | Quartier des spectacles | From July 13 to August 1.
Montreal is known around the world for hosting the largest and most eclectic comedy event of them all. Every year, the city welcomes fans of all ages for 10 days of hilarity, courtesy of the Just for Laughs Festival.
There's plenty to see, with 1,700 artists offering 1,600 performances, including 1,200 free outdoor shows. Join the more than two million visitors expected to descend on the Quartier des spectacles for this side-splitting annual event.

4. WHAT’S THAT IN THE SKY?
Festival L'international des Feux Loto-Québec | La Ronde and surrounding areas | Saturdays and Wednesdays from July 2 to 30, starting at 10 p.m., rain or shine
Every summer, the city gathers on rooftop terrasses and in the streets to take in the magic that is the annual international fireworks competition.
This year, six countries will go head-to-head and light up the sky. Chile, Canada, Switzerland, the United States, Spain and Sweden are ready to make your summer unforgettable!

5. 20 YEARS OF MOVIE MAGIC
Fantasia International Film Festival | Concordia University | July 14 to August 2
Everyone loves round numbers, and 2016 marks the 20th year that Fantasia has thrilled genre film audiences in Montreal.
During this time, the festival has been recognized as the largest and most influential event of its kind in North America … and for 13 years it has called Concordia home! The rumours on the street are that Kevin Smith, Marilyn Manson and Guillermo del Toro will be on hand to take in the largest movie party in Montreal.
It’s easy to see why Concordians come together every year to celebrate film in many ways — as movie goers and filmmakers.
