The MBA program offered by Concordia’s John Molson School of Business (JMSB) has been ranked 20th among international programs by Bloomberg Businessweek in the 2014 edition of its annual “Best Business Schools” feature. U.S. programs are ranked separately.

The methodology of the ranking incorporates the following three measures:

  • A survey of student satisfaction
  • A survey of employers who hire each school’s graduates
  • The expertise of each school’s faculty, measured by faculty research in esteemed journals

This year, Bloomberg Businessweek included 85 U.S. schools and 27 international schools, the largest group since it began ranking MBA programs in 1988.

Before being considered for inclusion, schools must meet a number of criteria. Specifically, each school is required to have at least 30 per cent of its class respond to the student survey. Nearly 10,000 students participated.

In the employer survey, more than 1,000 recruiters were asked to identify and rate up to 10 schools at which they had significant recruiting experience in the last five years. A school must be rated by at least five recruiters.

According to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), there are more than 13,000 business schools in the world.

“Now the prestigious Businessweek MBA ranking further positions JMSB’s MBA as one of the top programs in Canada — and puts it in an impressive 20th place worldwide,” says Steve Harvey, dean of the John Molson School of Business.

“This acknowledgment helps strengthen our reputation as one of the pacesetters in business education.”

The John Molson MBA focuses on interdisciplinary general management and prepares students for managerial success in the complex and competitive business environment. It is a student-centric program that is offered in a diverse and multicultural environment, addressing the global economy’s most relevant issues.
