    Includes scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.

Environmental Science & Ecology

  • Geobase (on Engineering Village platform)

    Includes earth science, ecology, geography and marine science. Useful for interdisciplinary environmental and geographical studies.

  • GreenFILE

    A multidisciplinary database covering many aspects of sustainability and environmental sciences from the perspective of disciplines such as education, law, health and engineering and geography and biology. The database indexes academic journals, magazines, trade publications and monographs.

  • BIOSIS

    Includes earth science, ecology, geography and marine science. Useful for interdisciplinary environmental and geographical studies.

  • PubMed

    Includes relevant life science, chemical science, toxicology and bioengineering content.

  • Toxline

    Provides bibliographic references covering the biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals.

  • SciFinder

    Contains a comprehensive database of chemical and chemical engineering literature including the CAS Registry with information on 18 million substances. Useful for engineering, biotechnology, toxicology.

    These cover both scientific and social aspects of sustainability.

  • PAIS

    Public and social policy database. subject areas include: administration of justice; culture and religion; environmental conditions and policy; human rights; law and ethics.

Law:

  • Ecolex

    Combines the environmental law information holdings of FAO, IUCN and UNEP. In addition to scholarly literature, this database indexes treaties, legislation and court decisions.

  • HeinOnline Law Journal Library

    Contains more than 1,530 law and law-related periodicals, including over 65 Canadian journals, and over 120 Environmental and Conservation Law journals.

Business & Economics

  • Business Source Complete and ProQuest Business Databases

    Include subject areas such as sustainable development, environmental management, environmental responsibility, renewable energy sources, sustainable engineering, sustainable tourism, social responsibility of business, environmental auditing, and green marketing.  

  • CBCA Business & Current Affairs

    Indexes Canadian publications, including business periodicals, trade journals, general business publications, academic journals, topical journals, and professional publications.

  • EconLit

    Indexes literature in the field of economics. Covers ecological economics, environmental economics, sustainable development and more.

  • OECD iLibrary

    Includes reports rather than academic articles, but themes include topics such as  development, finance, governance.

Engineering

  • Compendex and INSPEC on Engineering Village

    These important engineering abstracting and indexing databases can be searched simultaneously. Together they cover academic journal and conference literature in all areas of engineering, including environmental engineering, going back to the 1800s.

  • IEEE Xplore and ASCE Library

    These two databases comprise important digital libraries, with fulltext content, of journals, books, conference proceedings and standards published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Theses

Theses often provide new and emerging approaches and scholarship on interdisciplinary topics.
