Library printed sheet music collection

Concordia Library's printed sheet music collection consists of nearly 5000 titles in most genres of music, including classical, jazz, blues, electronic, world, folk, and popular, and we also have access to over 9000 more titles electronically.

You can search the printed sheet music collection through Sofia, Concordia's discovery tool by:

  • entering your search term plus the phrase "musical score" as a keyword (ie. schubert AND "musical score"),
  • or by entering your search term and selecting the format as 'Musical score'.

  • Classical Scores Library

    Classical Scores Library is a collection of classical music scores, manuscripts, and previously unpublished material, allowing users to access multiple types of scores across various composers, genres, and time periods.

  • Early English Books Online (EEBO)

    Early English Books Online (EEBO) contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from 1473-1700. EEBO includes numerous early English ballads and carols.

  • International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) / Petrucci Music Library

    The Petrucci Music Library is an internet-based collaborative music score library. You will find tens of thousands of scores composed by thousands of composers here, all available for free download.

  • Sheet Music Consortium

    The Sheet Music Consortium is a group of libraries working toward the goal of building an open collection of digitized sheet music using the Open Archives Initiative:Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI:PMH).

  • Eastman / Sibley Music Library

    Scores in the public domain at the University of Rochester's Sibley Music Library.

  • Neue Mozart-Ausgabe (NMA)

    The musical text and the critical commentaries of the entire Neue Mozart-Ausgabe, edited by the Internationale Stiftung Mozart in cooperation with the Mozart cities of Augsburg, Salzburg, and Vienna.

  • Choral Public Domain Library

    Wiki providing access to free choral scores. Also includes texts, transcription, translations, and information about composers.

  • Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec: Collection numérique - Livres et partitions musicales

    A collection of 1,500 Quebec music books and scores from the 19th and 20th centuries.

  • Aurora (Sheet Music from Canada's Past)

    Features sheet music published before 1900, from 1900 to 1913 and from 1914 to 1920, selected from the historical collection of Library and Archives Canada. For tips on how to search the collection, search by Collection Code, as outlined on the Library and Archives Canada website.

  • Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music Collection

    Contains over 29,000 pieces of music from the Special Collections at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library of The Johns Hopkins University. It focuses on popular American music dating from 1780 through 1960.

  • Historic American Sheet Music: 1950-1920

    Presents 3,042 pieces of sheet music drawn from the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke University, which holds an important, representative, and comprehensive collection of nineteenth and early twentieth century American sheet music.

  • Chopin Early Edition

    Includes over 400 first and early printed editions of musical compositions by Frédéric Chopin, maintained in the Special Collections Research Center" of the University of Chicago Library.

  • African-American Sheet Music, 1850-1920

    Consists of 1,305 pieces of African-American sheet music dating from 1850 through 1920. The collection includes many songs from the heyday of antebellum black face minstrelsy in the 1850s and from the abolitionist movement of the same period.

  • Music for the Nation: American Sheet Music, 1870-1885

    Consists of over 47,000 pieces of sheet music registered for copyright during the years 1870 to 1885. Included are popular songs, piano music, sacred and secular choral music, solo instrumental music, method books and instructional materials, and music for band and orchestra.
