The databases listed below can be searched from workstations in both Webster and Vanier Libraries as well as from home. Click on the name of the database for a full description and for connection instructions.

  • Education Source 
    This database offers the world's largest and most complete collection of full-text education journals, numbering over 1,700 titles.
  • ERIC 
    Covers over 1,100 current journals, most of which are peer reviewed. It also features conference papers, government reports, curriculum materials, and books; coverage from 1966 onwards.
  • Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts (LLBA)
    Internationally published literature on second language learning and teaching, language acquisition, etc.
  • PsycINFO
    International coverage of research publications in educational psychology and child development; updated weekly, PsycINFO is a useful complement to the ERIC database.
  • LearnTechLib
    Produced by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE), EdITLib includes peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings related to all aspects of Educational Technology and E-Learning.

  • ABI/INFORM Global
    Essential Proquest resource for research and trade publications on human performance technology, online instruction, corporate training, etc.
  • Academic Search Complete
    Multidisciplinary database which includes scholarly education journals, many of which are fulltext.
  • Eureka (Policies)
    Search for Education related stories in fulltext French language daily newspapers like La Presse and Le Devoir, as well as the magazine L'Actualité; also includes English language Canadian newspapers.
  • Business Source Complete
    Essential EBSCO resource for research and trade publications on human performance technology, online instruction, corporate training, etc.
  • Canadian Business & Current Affairs (Policies)
    Includes Canadian information in the field of education;currently over 130 education journals are indexed, covering both research and practice oriented publications; 
  • Canadian Newsstream (Policies)
    Search for Education related stories in fulltext Canadian daily newspapers like The Gazette, Toronto Star, Globe & Mail, Calgary Herald, and Vancouver Sun.
  • Canadian Public Policy Collection (Policies)
    Online collection of policy documents, government reports, and scholarly books.
  • ProQuest Combined Canadian (Policies)
    Searches Canadian newspapers and journal articles
  • INSPEC Web
    Covers computer aided instruction, distance learning, and instructional design.
  • ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global
    Includes the fulltext of North American University Theses and Dissertations from 1997 onwards.
  • Repère (Policies)
    French language periodicals; useful for coverage of the Quebec education system.
  • Sage Research Methods Online        
  • Contains authoritative encyclopedias, dictionaries, books, journal articles and videos dealing with research methods; includes a Methods Map, a visualization tool used to discover relationships between methods.    
  • OECD ilibrary (Policies)
    Useful for Comparative Education, providing International perspectives on Education issues; access to fulltext publications such as World Education Indicators, Education at a Glance:OECD Indicators.
  • Sport Discus
    Covers the research literature on physical education.
  • Web of Science
    Search by cited author, cited work, etc. from 1989 onwards.
