It’s time to prioritize sustainable finance.
Part of owning, leading or managing a business is being aware of the impact that all areas of the organization have on the environment – including financial practices. What are ESG concepts and how do you use them to improve your business’ finance and investing practices? In 13 sessions, gain a broad and well-rounded insight into the expanding world of sustainability.
Overview
The Sustainable Corporate Professional Certification is designed to teach the basics about, and encourage the advancement of, sustainable finance. Throughout the course, the underlying environment, social and governance (ESG) principles will be explored in a financial context. You will understand how Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contribute to challenges for corporations, the transition risks and opportunities for businesses, and the transformation of finance into a vehicle for the betterment of society and the environment. You will have the opportunity to apply academic material to practical, real-life situations in sessions taught by real industry experts with years of knowledge and experience to share.

The lecturer will offer professional experience and incite the students to process the academic material into practical situations. Case studies, scenario analysis, and simulations will be part of the learning experience along with a basic textbook.

- Session 5 — Strategy: How to Lead (chapter 5)
- Session 6 — Review & Work Session
- Session 7 — Disclosure: Communicating is Essential (chapter 6)
- Session 8 — Investing Principles: Time Horizon is Critical (chapter 7)
- Session 9 — Risk Management & Insurance: Enterprise and Capital (chapter 8 & 11)
- Session 10 — Equity: Influence & Engagement (chapter 9)
- Session 11 — Debt – Banks and the future transformation (chapter 10 & 12)

Evaluation: 4 assignments each worth 20%; and participation 20% ( class discussion)
- Assignment 1: Stewardship and Impact (following lecture 3)
- Assignment 2: SDG selection and Stakeholders Mapping (following lecture 6)
- Assignment 3: Strategic Planning and Scenario Analysis (following lecture 9)
- Assignment 4: Risk Management and Disclosure (following lecture 12)
The student must adapt the assignment to a practical context. An amount of selective research will be required and innovation will be greatly valued.
