Thomas Walker named Associate Dean Research and Research Programs

Harjeet Bhabra steps down after eight-year tenure

Interim Dean of the John Molson School of Business announced that Thomas Walker has been appointed Associate Dean, Research and Research Programs.

Walker is an associate professor in the Department of Finance and interim director of the David O’Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise. He brings many years of administrative experience to his new role, including those spent as chair of the finance department.

As associate dean, Walker will have oversight of the Faculty research plan and advise the dean on strategies to improve JMSB’s research profile. He will also be responsible for assuring the academic integrity and excellence of the PhD in Business Administration as well as JMSB’s MSc programs.

“Thomas is an accomplished researcher himself,” says Brutus. Walker held the Laurentian Bank Professorship in Integrated Risk Management, has acted as a referee for numerous journals and served on the peer-review committee of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

“He will play a vital role in ensuring that we continue to meet our goal of increasing research and knowledge transfer, as set out in our strategic plan. Please join me in wishing him the best in his new role.”

Walker replaces Harjeet Bhabra, who served as associate dean since 2008. “I would like to thank Harjeet for the excellent job he did in his role as associate dean,” says Brutus. “Under his directorship, interest in the PhD and MSc programs has increased and JMSB has been very successful in attracting funding from provincial, federal and other agencies.”
