Actuaries
Actuaries from Morneau Shepell determine if the fund’s value is sufficient to cover all the benefits, assist in developing the investment policy and provide assistance to the Pension Committee, the Benefits Committee and Benefits Services.
Governments
Governments also play a role in that they closely regulate the limits and excesses allowable in a registered pension plan. They may also introduce legislation that can affect pension plan provisions.
You, the members
You, the members of the plan, also play an important role. Your representatives on the Benefits Committee regularly review the plan to ensure it properly reflects your needs and opinions.
You can submit your comments about the Concordia Pension Plan through your representatives on the Benefits Committee or Benefits Services.
Auditors
Auditors from Samson, Bélair, Deloitte & Touche closely examine all accounting aspects of the plan to ensure conformity.
Fund Custodian
All assets of the Concordia Pension Plan are held in a fund that is separate and apart from the University operating funds. CIBC Mellon is the custodian of this fund. They execute transactions (such as paying pensioners), hold securities (such as stocks and bonds), collect income, and perform various accounting functions.
Fund Managers
Professional fund managers invest the assets of the Concordia Pension Plan. The current fund managers are:
- Acuity Investment Management;
- Baring Asset Management;
- Copper Rock Capital Partners;
- Pyramis Global;
- State Street Global Advisors;
- T.Rowe Price Associates;
