The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track position in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) at the rank of Assistant Professor. Exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level may also be considered.  This call extends to all individuals performing research  in all areas of HCI, and particularly with an interest in health-related applications. About the Department

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering has more than 45 faculty members, working in varied fields in computer science and software engineering, and has seen a major expansion in recent years. The Department is dedicated to multidisciplinary research and to educating students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science and in Software Engineering. Concordia University is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, a multicultural city with a lively intellectual and cultural life. Montreal has emerged as a global hub in artificial intelligence, and is synergistically benefitting from a number of university researchers and research institutes collaborating with established companies as well as startups on the next breakthrough discoveries. Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. The ideal candidate is an internationally recognized researcher with an exceptional scholarly record, and is dedicated to conducting interdisciplinary research. She/he is expected to attract strong external research funding and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, and the supervision of Masters and PhD students. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association, preferably in the province of Quebec, is desirable. The language of instruction at Concordia is English; however, knowledge of French is an asset.

Applications must include a cover letter clearly identifying the title and position code (19_T_CSSE_M2), detailed curriculum vitae, teaching and research statements, and names of four referees. Electronic applications should be submitted by January 15, 2020, and will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until a suitable candidate has been identified. Only short-listed applicants are notified. The appointment is expected to commence in July 2020 or shortly thereafter.
