The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering has over 45 faculty members, working in varied fields in computer science and software engineering, including several strong researchers in software engineering and has seen a major expansion in recent years. The Department is dedicated to multidisciplinary research and training of undergraduate and graduate students, offering Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Computer Science and in Software Engineering. The Department seeks an outstanding candidate for an Extended Term Appointment (ETA) faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in the area of Computer Science. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or a related discipline, and a PhD degree in a computer science or software engineering-related topic.

Under the provisions of the Concordia University Faculty Association (CUFA) Collective Agreement, the primary responsibility of an ETA is course delivery with an expectation to teach six to seven courses per academic year, depending on the service responsibilities undertaken. The successful candidate is expected to have demonstrated expertise and abilities to teach and develop both undergraduate and graduate courses in core computer science topics, as well as to work in collaborative multidisciplinary settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching core and elective courses in computer science and software engineering, supervising student projects, and for curriculum and course development. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Relevant industrial experience is an asset. Excellent communication skills are required. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association, preferably in the province of Quebec, is essential. Knowledge of the French language is an asset.

The position is for a three-year contract, and will commence August 2020 or soon thereafter, with the possibility of re-appointment.
