Painting and Drawing Talk Series: François LeTourneux

Francois LeTourneux will present his thoughts on painting's specificity as a medium followed by some considerations on the current context and comments on Isabelle Graw's recent hypotheses on painting's indexical nature.

François LeTourneux holds a BA in Painting and Drawing from Concordia University, and an MA and PhD in Art History from UQAM and Université de Montréal respectively. LeTourneux is currently Guest Professor in the Department of Art History and Cinema Studies at Université de Montréal. He was previously Associate Curator at the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal, where he curated monographic exhibitions of artists Etienne Zack (2010), Jon Pylypchuk (2011) and Lynne Cohen (2013-2015), and co-curated the 2011-2012 Quebec Triennial. He has also directed public programmes at the MACM since 2007 and organized numerous events and conferences including the yearly presentations of the Max and Iris Stern International Symposia (2008-2014).
