GPA and academic performance

Each year at the end of May all students are assessed to verify their academic standing. In order to continue in their program students must obtain a minimum 2.0 assessment GPA.  This assessment is always based on a minimum of 12 credits attempted; included are courses taken in summer, fall and winter term.

Keep track of your assessment GPA using this this simple calculation method: 

The credit value of the course (3 or 6) multiplied by the grade point obtained for the course (see chart below). The sum is then divided by the total credits attempted = the result is your assessment GPA.

Acceptable standing

Assessment GPA 2.0 to 4.30

Conditional standing

Assessment GPA 1.50 to 1.99

1st time conditional students are restricted from registering. Students will receive communication from the university regarding how they should proceed in order to resume their studies.  

2nd time conditional results in failed standing. Students are normally dismissed from Concordia for one academic year. Students will receive communication from the university regarding how they should proceed in order to resume their studies.  

Failed standing

Assessment GPA 0 to 1.49

Students in failed standing are dismissed from Concordia for one academic year.

Graduation requirements

Assessment and cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.0
