Summer is officially around the corner, and with it comes more good news about Concordians in the community.

Here’s a roundup of our most recent bragging rights:

Norman Ingram, a professor in Concordia’s Department of History, published an article called "The Crucible of War: The Ligue des Droits de l'Homme and the Debate on the 'Conditions for a Lasting Peace' in 1916." It appears in a special edition of French Historical Studies on “France and the Great War,” edited by Martha Hanna and John Horne.

Laura Collins, associate professor in the Department of Education, was elected to a four-year term on the executive of the American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL), which culminates in a one-year stint as president of the association.

AAAL is the largest professional association of its kind in this research field, with more than 1,800 members from 51 countries, one third of whom are from outside the United States. An association with global reach and influence, its yearly conference welcomes more than 1,500 participants.

Donato Totaro, a part-time professor in the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, was interviewed on Dan Schneider's online show, Cosmoetica, along with Russian scholars Robert Efird and Dan Ungurianu, about the life and art of the great Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky.

Patrick Duffy, an undergraduate history student at Concordia, was one of 19 promising student athletes to be granted a Cascades bursary in April. The speed skater has twice placed fourth in worldwide competitions. The bursary is valued at $4,000.

Since the inception of the Cascades bursary program in 2005, several recipients have gone on to shine at national, international and Olympic levels, and have been crowned Olympic gold medallists, World Senior and Junior title holders, and Pan-American and Canadian champions.
