Dear Creative Arts Therapies Community!

Our team of actors, musicians and designers will presenting the ethnodrama, Through the Eyes of Caregivers. This performance and art-based research project in Mental Health Education and is aligned with the Mental Health Awareness Event, which is taking place in the EV Atrium, 10pm-3pm, on Wednesday January 25, 2017.

It is a powerful reflection of the experience of caregivers for a loved one with a mental illness. As one caregiver wrote:

“Caring for a family member or friend with mental health issues means facing stigma, misunderstanding, and grief, but sometimes also unexpected personal growth.   As such a caregiver, personally, this powerfully-presented ethnodrama has educated me on many diverse issues in other caregiver lives.  What’s it really like to be a caregiver in mental health and what are caregiver vulnerabilities and strengths? How do caregivers see themselves in the context of others?  How can we share our human qualities of peer support?  You have to see this play to get a better understanding!  Great knowledge-building tool.   I think everyone should see it!”

The performance has been found particularly useful to all mental health professionals

It is free, but you must reserve a place as the seating is very limited. Just call 438-994-3367 or email caregivers.performance@gmail.com to reserve.

Please note that audience members will be asked to do a pre- and post-questionnaire regarding Mental Health Awareness.
