Artist Kim Waldron will launch the French version of her memoirs, titled Travail, espoir et honnêteté, which will allow residents in the Papineau riding to know and understand their new independent candidate who is running in the current federal election.

In this insightful memoir, first-generation immigrant and artist Kim Waldron explores the ways she has defied, and is ultimately defined by her family history. Raised in Montreal, Waldron is the daughter of an affluent New Zealand doctor, and a hard-working rural Kentucky nurse. She examines the polarity of messages she received from her parents: pursue your artistic passions versus financial conservatism and day jobs will never leave you high and dry. In a tale anyone who has ever been young and idealistic can relate to, Waldron confronts how the divided messages she inherited formed her character. Now an artist, wife and mother herself, she stands poised to pass forward her hopeful and hard-working values. 

This book published by Concordia University has been made possible through the generous support of the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Family Foundation as part of a fellowship awarded to the artist in 2013.

L’artiste Kim Waldron fera le lancement de ses mémoires, version française, sous le titre Travail, espoir et honnêteté, ce qui permettra aux résidents de la circonscription Papineau de mieux connaitre leur nouvelle candidate indépendante qui se présente dans la campagne électoral en cours.

Dans ses mémoires, l’immigrante de première génération et artiste Kim Waldron explore comment elle a défié sa famille tout en étant définie par celle-ci. Élevée à Montréal, Waldron est la fille d’un médecin nanti Néo-Zélandais et d’une infirmière Américaine du Kentucky. Elle y examine la polarité des messages qu’elle a reçus de ses parents : poursuivre sa passion artistique versus un conservatisme économique et l’importance d’un emploi stable. Dans ce récit pour auquel quiconque ayant déjà été jeune et idéaliste pourra s’identifier, Waldron explique comment des messages contradictoires ont formé son caractère et son sens critique. Maintenant artiste, épouse et mère elle-même, Waldron est aujourd’hui prête à transmettre ses valeurs d’espoir et de travailleuse acharnée.
