Morgan Rauscher is an interactive creative electronics artists and educator known for projects like "Zeugen"; an interactive robotic sculpture consisting of 32 human-cast faces with moving eyes that followed and 'watch' you in a gallery space. You look at the artwork while being 'seen' by the artwork in a co-created cycle of interwoven reflexivity. Morgan has shown in Canadian public and private art galleries, at the New York Science Museum, in Popular Science and on the cover of the 2013 Canadian Journal of Integrated Studies.
In addition to sculpture, Morgan produced an open-source (Arduino based) creative electronics hardware platform for artists, called Mondomatrix that has been a part of projects all around the world.
Morgan is currently working at the Hexagram 'A-Lab' on merging modern machining technology with haptic force-feedback material interaction to facilitate a new heuristic performance of sculpture. His research addresses a knowledge deficit in object modeling and tactile material interaction in the field of interactive and generative-kinetic robotic art. He is using interdisciplinary art production and research methodologies to observe the functional outcomes between 'machine-made' and 'human-made' sculptural objects. His current research-creation project entitled "Meccanismo"; is an original inter-disciplinary artwork-contribution to the iterative material performance of sculpture.
