Dr. Kristina Huneault is excited to announce the continuation of a project that began last year called Art History in Settler Colonial States. This initiative brings together five international researchers as they discuss art and colonialism under a new lens. Held last year at the Clark Art Institute, Dr. Huneault, Bill Anthes, Khadija Carroll, Damian Skinner, and Lize van Robbroeck will meet again at Birmingham University, UK this May 2017.

Consisting of a week-long symposium the researchers will discuss ways for settlers to relate their own nationalist and colonial histories, recognizing that all their related colonial art histories were established through a European lens. Dr. Huneault’s area of interest is centered around the notion of settler subjectivity. While in Britain, the colleagues will also be working on the book they plan to publish as they develop this new theoretical lens.
