Deborah Seabrook is an accredited music therapist (MTA), Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (RP), and approved supervisor (advanced) with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy. Deborah’s clinical work and research explores links between music improvisation, creativity, and health.
Prior to her time at Concordia, Deborah was Part-Time Faculty in the Music Therapy Program at Wilfrid Laurier University,where she taught clinical improvisation and supervised music therapy practica. She also created Inspira Music Therapy, providing music therapy programming for mental health organizations in Waterloo Region. Through Inspira, Deborah facilitated music therapy sessions for children and adults with mental health issues, adults in palliative care and women survivors of trauma.
Deborah is sought to share her ideas through conference presentations, workshops, and writing, including the: Music Therapy Association of Ontario Conference (2014); CAST Canada Trauma Conference (2014); The Canadian Association for Music Therapy Conference (2012; 2009); Hospice Palliative Care Ontario Conference (2013); The Nordic Music Therapy Conference (2009); and the Hamilton Qualitative Research Conference (2008).
