Concordia’s Art Therapy community is well represented at the combined conference of the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA) and the Ontario Art Therapy Association (OATA) from October 14-16 in Toronto. This year’s conference theme of Art Therapy & Anti-Oppressive Practice will share knowledge and invite dialogues on aging and long term care, community building, child and youth care, indigenous practices in art therapy, trauma-informed practices, mental health and substance use, and self-care for practitioners. Presenters with ties to Concordia include Art Therapy professor Josée Leclerc, MA Art Therapy student Rachel Chainey, and Concordia Art Therapy alumni Catherine-Emmanuelle Drapeau, Lucille Proulx, Andrea Savoie, Hailey Toll and Jennifer Vivian.

The conference attracts therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists, mental health professionals, educators, recreational and occupational therapists, child/youth workers, healthcare professionals and anyone interested in arts-based approaches and practices.
