Janice Anderson completed her M.A. (1995, Art History) and her Ph.D. (2002, SIP) at Concordia University. She has worked since 2000 as the Faculty of Fine Arts Visual Resources Curator in the Digital Image and Slide Collection. In 2000 she curated, with Dr. Brian Foss, the exhibition Quiet Harmony: The Art of Mary Hiester Reid for the Art Gallery of Ontario. She is an Adjunct in the Art History Department and has taught a variety of courses, but primarily Feminism and Art History. She also teaches a graduate seminar in pedagogy. In conjunction with Melinda Reinhart, Fine Arts Librarian, Concordia University, and Kristina Huneault, Concordia Research Chair, Department of Art History she co-founded the Canadian Women Artists History Initiative. The Initiative has developed a Documentation Centre devoted to Canadian women artists born before 1925, and several online research tools ( The Initiative held an inaugural conference and expects to publish a collection of essays, Rethinking Professionalism: Essays on Women and Art in Canada by May 2012. A second conference will also take place in May 2012.
