Experiential learning, which is described as learning by doing, is a learner-centered approach that promotes inquiry, analysis and creativity to address real-world issues. Acquire skills to help identify issues, collect data, arrive at potential solutions, work collaboratively, and explore organizational management.
Service learning involves hands-on experience through time and skills devote to communities in a supervised and supportive environment. Participate in social-change work in community settings with individuals who are willing to share their life experience and skills. Service learning can be applied in any discipline.
Prerequisite required: None This course introduces students to the theories of the experiential learning process; participatory action research methods and application; community engagement approaches; and to the development of the specialized skill sets required for specific learning activities.

Prerequisite required: SEL 195 or SEL 198A or SELC 295. Based on the knowledge and skills acquired in the introduction course and the learning goals identified, this supervised practicum is designed to assist students in acquiring experiential, on-site learning in community settings. Regular in-class seminar sessions allow for the tracking and exchanging of progress and learning.
