Academic Networking Online: Building a Professional Academic Profile

This workshop will explore the benefits as well as possible limitations in using social media for graduate research and impact. Particular focus will be given to important copyright considerations surrounding the use of two academic social media sites: Academia.edu, and ResearchGate. The session will give an introduction to the "alternative metrics" (altmetrics) these sites provide, in addition to covering the importance of research data deposition.
