Immigration is fundamental to the development of Canada as a nation. This lecture will explore the theme of immigration to Canada and its impact on the historical development of the Canadian Jewish community.

About the lecturer

Dr. Jack Lipinsky earned his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Canadian History. His first book, Imposing Their Will, is a study of the organizational maturation and metamorphosis of Toronto Jewry between 1933 and 1948. He is now researching the history of Jewish farmers in Ontario. Dr. Lipinsky serves as a Program Associate and Curriculum Writer for Facing History and Ourselves, which educates middle and high schoolers throughout North America on how to stand up against genocide and racism. He also has written and co-authored articles and books on best practices in teaching high school History and has written a text designed to introduce Canadian Jewish history into public, day, and supplemental schools. Dr. Lipinsky presently teaches and writes curriculum for the Associated Hebrew Schools of Toronto.

The lecture is open to the public and is generously sponsored by a grant from the Marvin A. Drimer Foundation.
